Patient Participation Report
The Patient Representative Group (PRG) was formed in 2013 so that patients’ representatives could meet with members of the Practice in order to learn from each other and discover ways in which, together, we could enable the Practice to use its talents and resources for the better care of its patients. We listen to each other, discuss, and advise. Our role is to support, not to manage. The Senior Partner and a member of the administrative staff attend the meetings, along with the patient volunteers. The group currently has 13 members comprising of registered patients.
The patient group is as representative as possible; each registered patient had an equal opportunity to become a member of the group. Posters inviting patients to become a member were displayed in the waiting room and an invitation was on the Practice Website.
During the 1st PRG meeting the Practice Assessment Questionnaire was discussed and an agreement was made as to what questions were priorities and which needed to be included. These questionnaires were handed out to 200 registered patients.
The Practice Assessment Questionnaire was then analysed and the results were made available to the PRG in readiness for the next PRG meeting. Following the discussion, the PRG decided that if a negative comment had been given an explanation as to why would be appropriate. This option will be added to the Questionnaire 2015.
